New Features and Improvements in FoalFollow's Summer Update!

The Heat Calendar is Finally Here!

With the Heat Calendar, you can mark the days your mare is in heat and, if desired, record ovulation as well. FoalFollow can predict your mare's next heat cycle based on the information you register. You can customize the cycle length for each individual mare, making the predictions more accurate.

The app also sends push notifications 3 days before the expected heat and again on the day it begins, helping you stay one step ahead.

If you register a new pregnancy after starting the Heat Calendar and your mare unfortunately is not confirmed pregnant at the first ultrasound, you can cancel the pregnancy. The Heat Calendar will automatically reappear with all the previously registered cycle data intact.

Of course, FoalFollow now also supports mares that haven't been bred or inseminated yet!

You can finally register a mare you're planning to breed, making it easy to keep track of her cycle and prepare for a successful breeding season.

Confirmed or Not Confirmed?

Existing users will notice that the mare list now includes several new filter options. You can filter by:

All mares
Confirmed pregnancies
Unconfirmed pregnancies
Mares currently in heat

To confirm a pregnancy, simply complete the first item in the checklist after a successful ultrasound examination. The mare will then be marked as confirmed pregnant, making it much easier to keep track of multiple mares.

Personal Stallion Library

One of the most requested features is finally here — your own personal Stallion Library!

You can now register the stallions you use, making it easier to keep track of which stallions have been used and which are currently in use. Looking ahead, my vision is to expand this into a shared FoalFollow stallion database, where breeders from all breeds and all over the world can access and contribute information.

Register Previous Pregnancy Losses

You can now register previous pregnancies that did not result in a foal.

These records can be deleted at any time and are designed to give you a more complete overview of each mare's reproductive history.

Days Since Foaling

A feature many users requested is now back!

You can once again see how many days have passed since your mare foaled. This information is displayed directly in the mare list for quick and easy reference.

A Fresh New Look and Overall Improvements

FoalFollow is gradually becoming the app I envisioned when I first started developing it in 2020.

Step by step, the app continues to improve thanks to valuable feedback, ideas, and feature requests from breeders around the world.

Although the app has experienced very few crashes, I've added new diagnostic tools to help identify the cause of unexpected issues—particularly on some Android devices. If you experience an unexpected crash, I would greatly appreciate it if you could send a screenshot or screen recording. Your feedback helps make FoalFollow even better. Thank you!

FREE vs PREMIUM

I've opened up the Checklist and Notes features for users without a subscription, and free users can now add as many mares as they like as long as they are not pregnant.

If you already have one pregnant mare registered in the app, you'll need a Premium subscription to register additional pregnant mares. Once your mare has foaled, you can also register a new pregnancy for her without a subscription. This makes the free version a great option for users who only want to follow one pregnant mare and don't need the additional Premium features.

With the free version, you do not have access to the estrus cycle calendar, the pregnancy calendar, or the ability to add new stallions to the stallion library. Some other features, such as viewing a mare's previous history, are also only available with Premium.

A small tip: if you only need a specific feature for a few months—such as the cycle calendar—you can subscribe to Premium Monthly during the months you need it.

FoalFollow Premium gives you unlimited access to everything in the app, including unlimited pregnant and non-pregnant mares. It's the perfect choice if you have multiple mares, whether you're planning breeding or already following pregnancies.

Please note: Starting in July, the free trial for Premium Yearly has been reduced from 30 days to 14 days. This is also clearly shown in the app.

Premium Monthly does not include a free trial, but you can cancel at any time before your next billing date to avoid being charged for the following month.

There is still a long list of exciting ideas and features planned for FoalFollow, and it's incredibly rewarding to see so many users helping shape the future of the app.

NEW VERSION JUST AROUND THE CORNER!

The final touches and testing of new features have been completed, now we are approaching the launch of a new version for both IOS and Android! During the next week, version 1.3.0 for IOS will be available and version 1.4.2 for Android will be available!

In this version of FoalFollow you will get a better user experience when viewing the mare list and offspring list, the ability to add mares that have not yet been covered/inseminated, register previous pregnancies that were not completed, several small improvements and layout changes, and last but not least - the cycle calendar is finally here!

There are even more benefits to having FoalFollow Premium, but we have also opened up the checklist and notes to free users, as well as the ability to enter a new pregnancy on any mare as long as you do not have an already active pregnancy registered on a mare. We have also created a separate stallion library, so that they are also easier to keep track of. Lots to look forward to!

THE NEW FOALFOLLOW IS HERE 🤍

FoalFollow and FoalFollow English are now combined into one app. From now on, FoalFollow will be the single app we continue to grow and improve.

Since April 2026, FoalFollow supports both Norwegian and English, and we’re excited to expand with more languages in the future—like Swedish and Danish. With users all around the world, we want FoalFollow to feel accessible and helpful no matter where you are.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE LATEST VERSION?

In the latest version (April 2026 – iOS 1.2.0 / Android 1.4.1), you’ll find several new and improved features:

Choose your language: Norwegian or English
Add previous offspring
Track a new pregnancy
Add photos of your horses (mare, stallion, and foal)
Create and manage events in the calendar
Receive helpful push notifications (new trimester, upcoming events, and more)
Get a visual overview of pregnancies with a bar chart (completed and terminated)
Premium subscription options (monthly or yearly)
Free version available (includes ads and limited access to features)

WHY A SUBSCRIPTION?

Up until April 2026, FoalFollow was a one-time purchase. Part of that went to the App Store and Google Play, while the rest covered basic running costs.

To keep improving the app and building new features, we’ve introduced a subscription model. This helps us cover ongoing costs and continue developing FoalFollow in a sustainable way. Creating and maintaining the app takes a lot of time and care—and this allows us to keep moving forward without compromising quality.

USING FOALFOLLOW ENGLISH BEFORE? HERE’S WHAT TO DO 🤍

If you’ve been using FoalFollow English, we recommend exporting your mares and saving them safely on your device. Then download FoalFollow and import them there.

Due to limitations in the iOS version, it is not possible to export mares from the FoalFollow English app on iPhone/iPad.

Mare export is only available in the English Android app.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

FOALFOLLOW ENGLISH HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM SALE ON THE APP STORE AND WILL SOON BE REMOVED FROM GOOGLE PLAY.

To import:
Create a new mare → go to Settings → choose “Import.”
All your mares will be transferred into FoalFollow.

Note: Importing will overwrite existing mares, including the one you just created.

We also recommend exporting your data regularly as a backup—especially if you change devices.

When you select “Export mares,” all mares are saved at once to your chosen location—no need to export them individually.

At the moment, FoalFollow does not use a server. This means all your data is stored safely on your own device.
